Project Opus Technologies Awarded Funding from Heritage Canada

Project Opus Technologies in partnership with Simon Fraser University and with the support of Yahoo! Music is awarded $400,000 to develop a new format for digital music packages. The project to be completed in March 2008, will provide music technologies for enhancing the digital music experience by adding valued media and services to a standard audio file.

"With the imminent collapse of CD sales. There is a very real risk that packaged music as we know it will vanish," notes David Gratton, CEO of Project Opus. "We will be addressing the challenge by applying emerging digital packaging models and technologies like MPEG 21 and IMS. Our goal is to bring value back to owning packaged music."
